Ancestral Utopia

Mangangá looks back in order to dream forward: the peoples of the Upper Solimões, the fisherman of alley 50 and the world the forest still promises.

  1. Chapter I

    Those who came before

Before the town, the Javari and the Solimões already had keepers: the peoples who fished, planted and told the origin of the world in these waters. The arena begins with them.

  2. Chapter II

    The fisherman

Raimundo Dimas came from the Northeast and found his sea in the Javari. Fishing taught him the timing of the waters, and on alley 50 he gave the neighbourhood a boi to call its own.

  3. Chapter III

    The star

White as river foam, with a green star on the forehead. The Besouro carries on its skin the heritage of those who plant on the floodplain and harvest before the water returns.

  4. Chapter IV

    The promised world

The forest standing, the river full of fish, the party on everyone's street. Mangangá's utopia is the one the elders already knew, and the arena is where it exists again for one night.

“Utopia is not in the future. It was lived before us, on the bank of this river, and the white boi with the green star returns to the arena to remember the way.”
