The Festival

Benjamin Constant is waiting

How to reach the triple border, what to bring and what to do between festival nights.

Getting there

Heading to the triple border

Benjamin Constant sits where the Javari meets the Solimões, next to Tabatinga, Leticia and Islandia. Pick your route.

  1. 1.

    By plane to Tabatinga

There are flights from Manaus to Tabatinga, the neighbouring town. From there to Benjamin Constant you cross the Solimões by boat or speedboat.

  2. 2.

    By boat up the Solimões

Passenger boats and express speedboats travel upriver from Manaus. It is the longest trip and the most beautiful: days of hammock, river and forest.

  3. 3.

    Across the border

Visitors from Leticia, in Colombia, come through Tabatinga. Those from Peru cross the Javari from Islandia, right across from town.

Before you go

In your bag for the border

Three things that make the trip easier for those coming from afar or crossing the border.

  • 1.

    Keep your ID at hand

Many people from three countries move across the border. Bring photo ID, and a passport or national ID if coming from Peru or Colombia.

  • 2.

    Real, sol and peso

Shops take reais and, near the border, also soles and pesos. Pix is accepted almost everywhere, but bring some cash.

  • 3.

    Heat and rain

July is hot and humid, with showers. Light clothes, sunscreen, insect repellent and a rain cover in your bag.

Plan your trip.

Check the festival night dates and arrive in time to wear the green crowd shirt.
